New year cake

In many countries around the world, it is a tradition to eat a special cake to celebrate the New Year. The cake is usually made with ingredients that are believed to bring good luck and prosperity in the coming year, such as fruits, nuts, coconut and spices. Some cakes may also have a hidden surprise inside, like a coin or a special trinket, which is said to bring good fortune to the person who finds it.


The  cakes  are often shared with family and friends during New Year's celebrations. It is believed that by eating the cake together, people are symbolically sharing their hopes and wishes for the new year. Some cultures also have specific rituals or traditions associated with the  cake, such as making a wish before taking a bite or saving a piece of the cake to eat on New Year's Day for good luck. Overall, the New Year's cake is a sweet and meaningful way to welcome the start of a new year with loved ones.


Cooking time; 30 - 40 minutes 

 

Ingredients

04 eggs

02 cups of wheat flour 

02 cups of sugar 

200 grams of butter or  margarine

200 grams of pitted prunes or dates 

50 grams of grated coconut

3/4 cup of white wine 

01 cup of warm water

200 grams of coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)

01 tablespoon of baking powder 


Preparation 

In a bowl, add the grated coconut and warm water. Add the lightly crushed walnuts, chopped dates , and set aside.

In an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until white, add the eggs and finally the all-purpose flour, wine and baking powder.

Turn off the mixer and add the coconut, walnut and plum mixture to the batter, stirring gently.

Grease a pan with approximately 24 centimeters in diameter and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees, approximately 30 to 40 minutes until golden. 

Wait for it to cool and unmold and decorate to serve .
