Christmas gratin

Christmas table in sweden has different dishes . This is one of them .

Jansson is a hearty and superb potato gratin that you can serve on the Christmas table. Potato sticks, anchovy fillets and onions are interspersed with cream, caviar and breadcrumbs. Creamy and tasty!





Preparation time ; 60 minutes

Ingredients

3 onions

3 tablespoons butter

10 floury potatoes

1tin anchovy fillets ( 125 g )

300g whipped cream

1 small tub of  caviar  (125 g)

2 tablespoons breadcrumbs

***  you can replace anchovies and cavier with garlic fried mushrooms .


Preparation


Set the oven to 200 ° C.

Peel the onion and cut it into thin slices. Fry it soft in 1/3 of the butter. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin strips.

Layer potatoes , onions and anchovy fillets in a greased ovenproof dish, finish with a layer of potatoes.

Drizzle over some anchovy oil .

Mix  cream and caviar and pour over. Sprinkle over the breadcrumbs and  the rest of the butter.

Bake in the middle of the oven until the potatoes feel soft and the gratin has a nice color, 45-50 minutes.
