Pumpkin Christmas Bread


This bread is brilliant, in the mouth as in the plate. With its orange color, Christmas spices and crunchy nuts, it's a pure delight! .

We prepare it with homemade pumpkin puree that we have frozen or simply with canned puree. Normally pumpkin puree with roasted pumpkin .But you can make pumpkin puree from boiled or steamed pumpkin .


Preparation time ; 80 minutes 
serves                     ; 4 - 8



 1/3  cup of vegetable oil or melted butter 
1 cup homemade or store-bought pumpkin puree
1 1/2 cups  unbleached all-purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup  sugar
1 tsp Baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup nuts ,coarsely chopped (optional)

Place a rack in the center of the oven and heat p to 175 ºC (350 ºF). Lightly grease a 23 x 13-cm (9 x 5-inch) loaf pan.  

In a bowl, combine the oil and the pumpkin puree. Reserve.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

Combine the dry and wet ingredients alternately, until the mixture is smooth. Add nuts, if desired.
Pour the mixture into the loaf pan. Bake for 60 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Let cool before unmoulding and slice .
