Christmas bread stuffing



In previous posts i give you Latin  American style stuffing holiday stuffing recipes .But this recipe is more rich and delicious as Amercian  stuffings .You can serve it with your favourite holiday bird roast .
We add many ingredients that improve the  holiday  flavor like apples and raisins .Do not forget to add broth cubes because it will improve the flavor .If you do not like them use more  salt ,pepper and some herbs .

1 onion, chopped

4 stalks of celery, chopped, (remove the hard fibers, if desired)


1/2 cup butter

2 cups cooking apples, cored and peeled, cubed

1 cup of raisins 

2 tbsp. dehydrated chicken broth (2 cubes)

1 C. 1/2 teaspoon ground sage

1 tsp mixed herbs 
salt to taste 

Freshly ground pepper (to taste)

1 1/3 cups chicken broth 

9 cups of bread cut into cubes (white bread  other, with or without crusts)

4 slices cooked bacon or sausages ,coarsely chopped


In a large skillet, melt the butter over a moderate heat and drop the onion and celery in it, until translucent, about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally (do not let the butter scorch).

Add the apples, raisins, chicken broth, sage, herbs , pepper and mix well, and continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes, stirring to coat all the ingredients with butter.

Transfer everything to a very large bowl and allow to cool to room temperature.

Add the bread cubes, mix well, then pour in the chicken broth, stirring gently with a wooden spoon.

Transfer the stuffing to a baking dish (large rectangular pyrex or similar), previously buttered.

Bake on the center rack, covered with aluminum foil, at 350 ° for 25 minutes, then uncovered for 20 minutes (spend a few minutes under the grill if you like the crispy top!).

Sprinkle with bacon and serve as an accompaniment to your turkey
