Vegan Christmas fried carp





Fried carps are a popular christmas eve dish in central europe .Many of central europeans have christmas eve dinner with fried carps and potato salad.That is a major challenge that we can make vegan meat easily but vegan fish making is quite different .Normally we use nori sheets to make vegan fish .

But in this recipe we use oats and celery instead of seitan and nori sheets .Also the coating is made from crushing potato chips or peas and cereal mix  instead of using breadcrumbs or crackers .

2 - 3 tbsp

Worchester sauce

2 - 3 tbsp

soy sauce

0.5 package

spices for fish( salt, pepper, mustard and herbs)

More breadcrumbs 

for wrapping
1 - 2 cups

Pea + cereal mixture 
 Or 
2 - 3 cups

sunflower oil

1 cube

vegetable broth

1 - 2 cups

vegetable broth from celery

Preparation process
We clean the celery, peel it and boil it in salted water. After cooking, grate the celery on a coarse grater. We store the celery broth for later use.

Mix oatmeal with cooked and coarsely grated celery, a mixture of fish spices, add soy sauce and you can also add Worchester sauce. Pour about 1/4 - 1/2 l of vegetable broth in which we cooked celery. If that's not enough, add vegetable broth from the cube. Leave soaked in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours (preferably overnight).

Before frying, thicken with breadcrumbs to the density of the meatball mass and form not too large portions in the shape of fish. We wrap in breadcrumbs or in a mixture for wrapping Pea (a mixture of peas and gluten-free cereals) or in potato chips crushed in a plastic bag using a roller.
I use all kinds of packaging, because on the bowl the various packages will create a nice color combination from deep yellow, through orange to red pieces.

Fry veggies in oil until golden. It is good to always lower the temperature a little and fry for a few minutes slowly. The amount comes out to about 15 pieces the size of about the length of a palm with fingers.

serve Christmas carp with potato salad with spicy dressing, it tastes good with mashed potatoes.
