Polish Christmas punch






Polish christmas punch or compote wigiljine can be served hot or cool .This is something like ponche navideno but we completely using dried fruits like dried apples and  prunes.I do not know why use dried fruits to make these .I think they are used to get a christmas flavor .

preparation time ; 50 minutes

2 and 1/2 liters of water
1/2 cup orange juice
100 g  dried apples
100 g  dried plums ,or use date
100 g dried apricots , raisins is a good substitute
10 dried pears
5 dried dates
2 tablespoons Earl Gray tea or black tea
2 tablespoons honey or sugar
1 cinnamon stick



Wash and dry the oranges thoroughly. Cut into slices.

Put apples, plums, apricots, dates and pears in a pot and pour water. Bring to a boil.

Add Earl Gray tea and cook covered on low heat for 30 minutes.

Add cinnamon bark. Cook for 15 minutes on low heat.

Add honey and orange juice to the compote. Cook for 5 minutes on low heat.

Take the pot off the heat. Pour the compote into the jug.

Serve warm or cold on Christmas Eve dinner and holidays
